man, these guys are good. minus maybe Baylie Brown or Sabrina Sloan, what a perfect batch. I love top four week of every season. You usualy love everyone still in, and the competition is so dang close. Last year, the Four sang to Elvis - and this year, they're singing to Gibb. Boogie will be harder to pull of than Oldies Rock N Roll.
jordin sparks.. Not such a great impression to leave us with coming out of last week. We all know she's amazing, but let's look to this week. Barry Gibb (sang Islands in the Stream, Guilty with Barbara Streisand), reminder. The only time Sparks has really got her jig on was top 11.. remember "Hey Baby, Hey Baby, Hey!"? It was good (debatable), but not a lasting grand impression. With the level of competition this week, there's no room for "debatable good." She'll have to dig.
lakisha jones.. Much, much better this week KiKi. She pushed it though. Did anyone else feel like Old Ms. Front-Runner had almost lost her shine? Well, it was close to it. But she's back on track and I can just picture her grooving to Islands in the Stream. Last week doesn't guarantee anything for her except a spot on Tuesday's show - so she still needs to step it up.
blake lewis.. Blake's on a roll after practically creating a new Bon Jovi song with his mixer machine. Last week was a dead nail-on, minus the distracting gothic-like hair. We've had enough hair adventures (Malakar) this season, and last week was like deja vu. Everyone (Sparks, Lewis) needs to be back to normal by Tuesday. I think boogie is this guy's second middle name, after beat-boxing, of course. He'll wham one again this week. Only one thing - maximize vocals, and keep the b-boxin' on a limit.
melinda doolittle.. She's done about everything. Pop, R&B, soul, blues, latin, country, and now rock. That leaves just Techno/Boogie and Rap. She'll tackle the first this week. Maybe this will be something Ms. Record Deal can't work out. She's a head-noddin', hand-raisin' kind of performer, and you can't really belt out a boogie tune soul style. Melinda's just got to keep it entertaining and extremely pleasing (no big deal, right?), and she's in the finale. Well, that's what we thought about Daughtry last year..
YOUR SEVEN :] No way, in no how, do they compare to last year's group, but I guess we'll work with what we got. We'll definately have some talent to work with once we get Stacey and Malakar out of there. More coverage, more action, more polls, features, pictures, comments, predictions on the NEW SITE! Don't forget about it!
I haven't left, or dropped off. If you've been wondering what happened, I've been updating at the new site, the actual website. If you've missed much of anything, check the weekly archives for past posts. And join me there from now on! I'll respond to comments from Xanga as well, but I'm trying to slowly move away. Thanks! :]
http://home.earthlink.net/~idolcritic .. I know it's a tough one to remember, but I'm posting links all over the place to help you guys out. Add it to your favorites!
Anybody know what the judges were talking about when they said they might get a winner out of L.A.? I got two people marked down on my good list. Don't think so. But they didn't show much. Anyways..
++ the GOOD > Alaina Alexander - I like her, but I hope she gets alot better so I can like her some more. > Brandon Rogers - How he looks, smiles, and keeps his eyes closed when singing bothers me a bit, but his voice is incredible!
++ the DECENT > Grace Pugal - Girl on the Cow costume; might've had a chance to possibly move on if she wasn't wearing that stupid outfit! > Brian Miller - LOVE THE SONG.. but he sounds a lil like what your six year old brother would.
++ the BAD (way too many) > Xcentric - There truly are 3 main moves for a panther.. > Sholondric Stall worth - Bringin' the romance into music again.. > Marianna Riccio - What's UP!? Are you guys ready to rock out with me!? Didn't know whether to roll eyes, or feel bad. > Phuong Pham - Loved her story, could be good MAYBE if she didn't try so hard to sound like Taylor. > Cavett Carr & Darold Gray - Yikes.. > Anthony Adams > Eric Mueller - STUPID.. Hah, but it shows the capabilities of Paula & Randy's singing program.. :] HAH!
Well, L.A. was pointless.. Anybody agree? I'd like to hear some of your favorites.. Only 1 more audition city! Check the >NEW_SITE< for Polls & New Extras Tomorrow ! :] Keep the comments coming! Thanks!
Let's get started.. ++ the GOOD > Tatiana McConnico - I like her alot! Young & Talented! > Bernard Williams THE SECOND!a - :] towards the end, John Legend-ish! > Jamie Lynn Ward - Advice: Sing naturally! I like her.. > Chris Sligh - Flippin' hilarious.. Have to admit he's a good singer.. Wish he wasn't though.. I'll prolly end up likin' him.. Ughh. > Nichole Gatzman - Bit of a mistake Randy & Simon. She was good enough to move on.
++ the DECENTS > Erica Skye - 1st of the day.. Simon, she was not "hopeless". What the heck? > Katie Bernard - "House Is Not a Home", wierd-voice girl, sounded too rehearsed > Diana Walker - quote "Larger Package" unquote.. At first, I liked her, then it got crazy. > Victoria Watson - 6' Hair; Go to Broadway; Not an American Idol; "HAIR WE GO!" Good One Ryan :]
++ the BAD > Lakia Hill - "people say I can sing" > Brandy Patterson - Let me tell you, she made me feel like a virgin, touched for the very first time. The carpet really did change her voice, don't you agree? Don't forget, Simon wants you to call him, Brandy.
- Need I mention the 50 year old Big Bird? No I don't. Good. - Paula didn't stay in her seat one time the whole show I don't think. Hah.
